Private by design: how OverlapIQ handles your data
No signup, no PAN, no uploads. The amounts you type stay in your browser. Here is exactly what is saved, what is sent, and who else is involved.

The short version
OverlapIQ is a free tool. You can use it without signing up, giving a PAN, uploading a statement or sharing an email address.
Nothing to hand over
No signup, no PAN, no folio number, no statement upload.
Your numbers stay with you
The amounts and weights you type are used in your browser. We never receive them and we do not save your portfolio on our servers.
Simple analytics
We use Google Analytics to see which pages help people. It gets counts and clicks, never amounts.
๐ง Like you are 5
Think of a calculator on a table. You type your numbers into it and it shows the answer on its own screen. We never see your numbers. We only see that someone used the calculator.
What happens to what you do on the site
This table matches how the site works today. If we change how it works, we will change this page.

| What you do | Where it goes | Do we keep it? |
|---|---|---|
| Type amounts or weights ("I hold โน50,000") | Used on your screen to do the maths. Never sent to us. | No. We never receive it. |
| Add your own US or European stocks | Saved in your own browser on this device, so it is there next time. When you add one, Google Analytics receives the ticker symbol, not the amount. | Not on our servers. |
| Save a fund to your watchlist | Saved in your own browser on this device. | Not on our servers. |
| Search for or pick a fund | The search text and the fund you pick are sent to our server so it can return that fund's holdings. The "what changed" view also sends the fund names. | Used to answer the request. Our host may log the request, like any website. |
| Visit pages and click things | Google Analytics records page views, scroll depth, which links you click and simple counts (for example how many funds you compared). | Counts and flags only. No amounts, weights or names of your funds. |
| Load any page | Your browser contacts our host and a few services that deliver fonts, styles and analytics (listed below). They see your IP address, as with any website. | Standard web logs, kept under each provider's own policy. |
About "stays in your browser"
Your direct stocks and watchlist are saved in your browser's own storage on this device. That is why they are still there next time. Only you can see them. If you clear your site data, or use a different browser or phone, they are gone. Fund searches and the fund you pick do go to our server, because that is how it finds the holdings to show you.
About the Portfolio X-Ray
If you choose a CSV file or paste a list, it is read by your browser and never uploaded. Your list is saved in your browser's own storage so it is there next time, and the Clear button removes it. The only thing our server receives is the ID of each fund, so it can send back that fund's public holdings.
Who else is involved
A website cannot work without a few services behind it. These are the ones this site uses.
Swipe the table sideways to see all columns โ
| Service | What it does for us | What it can see |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (and Google Tag Manager script) | Counts visits and clicks so we can improve the site. | Page views, clicks, the events listed above, cookies, approximate location from your IP address. |
| Google Fonts | Delivers the text font. | Your IP address and browser details when the font loads. |
| Tailwind CSS (CDN) | Delivers the page styling. | Your IP address and browser details when the file loads. |
| Render | Hosts the website. | Standard web server logs (IP address, time, page). |
| Supabase | Stores the public fund holdings data we show. | Our server's requests for fund data. It holds no portfolio of yours. |
Cookies. Google Analytics uses cookies to tell visits apart. You can block them in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The tool works the same either way.

- We do not give investment advice. See the notes on each page.
Staying extra private
- Delete what is saved on this device: clear this site's data in your browser settings, or use a private window.
- Use a shared computer? Remove your direct stocks before you leave, or use a private window.
- Do not want analytics? Use the opt-out add-on above.
