Level 0: Start here
No jargon. What the market is and what you actually own.
LESSON 1 · 5 MIN
What is the stock market?
Before charts and trades, one idea: a share is a tiny slice of a real business, and the market is just the place where slices change hands.
LESSON 2 · 4 MIN
Stocks, indexes and funds: what is the difference?
You hear "Nifty", "index fund" and "ETF" as if they were the same thing. They are not, and the difference decides what you actually own.
Level 1: Risk and return
The numbers behind the bumpy ride, from real Indian market history.
LESSON 3 · 4 MIN
Risk, return and the bumpy ride
Higher expected return comes with a bumpier ride. Here is what "bumpy" looked like in real numbers.
LESSON 4 · 4 MIN
Drawdowns: the fall you have to survive
Average returns look friendly. The real test of an investor is the fall from a peak, and whether they are still holding on at the bottom.
LESSON 5 · 4 MIN
Diversification and the overlap trap
Spreading your money is the closest thing to a free lunch in investing, but only if the pieces are really different.
LESSON 6 · 5 MIN
SIP or lump sum? What the real numbers show
Both camps are sure they are right. The honest answer: it depends on what the market does next, which nobody knows.
Level 2: Reading prices
Charts, candles and moving averages, tested on real data.
LESSON 7 · 4 MIN
How to read a price chart
A chart is a picture of what already happened. Learning to read it calmly is the first skill of any trader or investor.
LESSON 8 · 5 MIN
Candlesticks: a whole day in one picture
Each candle packs a day's fight between buyers and sellers into a single shape.
LESSON 9 · 6 MIN
Trends, moving averages and a fair test
Moving averages are the most popular chart tool. Instead of taking claims on trust, we test one on real data.
Coming next
The path continues once Levels 0 to 2 have been tested by real learners.

Level 3: How a trade really works
Market and limit orders, brokerage and taxes, delivery versus intraday, and what margin does to risk.

Level 4: Derivatives and F&O
What futures and options are, how they are priced, and why most individual traders lose money, with the data.

Level 5: Your own rules
Position sizing, stop-loss logic, backtesting without fooling yourself, and reviewing your own journal.
Questions
Is OverlapIQ Learn free?
Yes. There is no signup, no payment and no PAN. Your progress and journal stay in your own browser.
Does this tell me what to buy or sell?
No. It teaches how markets, risk, charts and trading work, using real Indian market history. It never recommends a stock, fund or trade, and the replay lab uses virtual money only.
What is the replay lab?
A time machine. You get ₹10 lakh of virtual money and replay a real stretch of Nifty 50 history, day by day, without knowing the future. At the end you see how you did against buy-and-hold and an auto-invest plan, and how your own behaviour affected the result.
Where does the data come from?
Daily closing levels of the Nifty 50 price index from NSE Indices, as published by Yahoo Finance, from 17 Sep 2007 to 13 Apr 2026. The price index excludes dividends. Index weights come from the NSE Indices factsheet of 30 Sep 2026.
Where is my progress stored?
Only in your browser on this device. Clearing site data erases it. Nothing about your quiz answers, trades or journal is sent to us.
OverlapIQ Learn is for education only. It does not recommend buying, selling or holding any security, and nothing here is investment, tax or legal advice. The replay lab uses virtual money. Charts and figures use daily closing levels of the Nifty 50 price index (NSE Indices) as published by Yahoo Finance; the price index excludes dividends, and past performance does not predict the future.
